Sale of Sandhills Caravan Park – sale agreed after just two weeks

One of Scotland’s oldest family-owned and most spectacular caravan parks is now under new ownership after a multi-million-pound deal conducted through Bruce & Co.

The deal was secured at the asking price within two weeks of going to market, and illustrates the current strength of the Scottish leisure market.

The business, which has been under the ownership of the same family since opening in the 1920s, was sold to Leisure Parks Limited which owns and operates a range of successful luxury holiday parks across the UK. The quality of the business, its prestigious history, and its stunning location provided the perfect opportunity for Leisure Parks to expand its operations into Scotland. The new owners are committed to protecting the legacy of the business and will continue to maintain the same high standards and values set by the vendor, Jim McCulloch.

Sandhills Caravan Park operates from an outstanding beachfront location in Pettycur Sands, Kinghorn, Fife, and enjoys stunning panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Offering 46 holiday homes, Sandhills has won The David Bellamy Gold Award for 19 consecutive years for its contribution to the local environment. Pettycur Sands is rich with wildlife and diverse fossil flora and the area has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is classified as a site of ‘outstanding international importance’.

Craig Ellis, owner of Leisure Parks Limited, said: ”Sandhills represented the perfect fit for the Leisure Parks Group and we will continue to operate it to the exceptional standards set by Jim. I would like to thank the Bruce & Co team for all their help in ensuring a smooth sale. I look forward to continuing the success of this superb business as part of the Leisure Parks Group.”

Jim McCulloch, the vendor, said: “Bruce & Co could not have found a better buyer. Craig is a perfect fit for Sandhills. He is of a like-mind and fully understands and appreciates the values and principles that I have instilled over the many years I have spent building this business into one of the most prestigious and respected holiday parks in the country.

I am delighted with the entire sale process and extremely thankful to Alistair, Scott, and Robin at Bruce & Co for their commitment and expertise.”

Alistair Watt from Bruce & Co commented: “This was a perfect example of the ideal corporate sale. The entire process was undertaken with care and professionalism and within two weeks of going to market we received an offer for the asking price from a buyer who exceeded our client’s expectations.”
