Glencoe Village Store Sold to VolcanX Ltd
14th April 2026
A well-established Highland convenience business, Glencoe Village Store in Ballachulish, has been successfully sold to VolcanX Ltd, in a deal facilitated by Bruce & Co.
Situated within the heart of Glencoe, the village store occupies a prominent position and benefits from being the only retail outlet serving the local community. The business has built a strong and loyal customer base, supported by consistent year-round trade and significant seasonal uplift driven by tourism.
The store offers a comprehensive range of general groceries alongside hot and cold food, teas and coffee. The store benefits from local demand and the store’s established reputation. Additional trade is generated during peak tourist months, with nearby campsites, caravan parks and holiday accommodation contributing to increased footfall.
Having been operated by the previous owners since 2011, the business was brought to market as part of their retirement plans. Over this period, Glencoe Village Store has developed into a well-run and efficiently managed operation, supported by a team of full-time and part-time staff and modern systems including EPOS, CCTV and a monitored alarm system.
The property itself is a detached, single-level building positioned centrally within the village, with ample on-street parking available. Internally, the premises are well laid out, featuring a spacious retail area.
Tom Waite, Deal Negotiator at Bruce & Co, who handled the transaction, commented:
“This was a fantastic opportunity to bring a highly regarded Highland business to market. Glencoe Village Store is a cornerstone of the local community and benefits from a unique trading position as the only shop in the village. We received strong interest, and VolcanX Ltd is well placed to build on the solid foundations already in place and explore future growth opportunities.”
The client said of the transaction that it was, “… a good experience- communication was clear from Tom and the process moved forward as expected”.”
